Sunday evening

What an exciting day! We had some very nice racing: HeiaFR recovered from yesterday accident and won the 3rd place in the lightweight speed category with panache. The final match between EPFL and Yverdon was really tight and 5 runs were necessary for the EPFL to win 3-2. In the heavyweight category AATS wins the trophy with a slightly superior speed. The long distance was also intense with boats fighting to the end to do as much laps as possible. The finish was really tight: Yverdon and EPFL manage both to round 18 laps, but Yverdon crossed the line…

In a similar fashion, NTNU managed to win the first lap against FESB, but the Croatians were faster in the two next encounters. The long Archimedean boats seem to dominate in the heavy category. The semi-finals with the lightweight boats saw some serious drama when Heia-FR capsized with their very fast foiler against Yverdon.…

Saturday

With a race-course back to normal, today will see intense racing! The lightweight boats will battle in the quarter-finals to gain their ticket for the semi-finals that will be held in the afternoon. There are really serious competitors and the suspense is palpable with a wide range of concepts: archimedian and semi-planning monohulls (FESB Hydro and AATS Rijeka), planning monohull (UCL Racing), catamarans (ENSTA Bretagne and Seatech), and foilers (Heig-VD, HeiaFR, and EPFL). The afternoon will also see the other semi-finals in the heavyweight category. EPFL with their Surface Effect Ship (hybrid between a catamaran and a hoovercraft) will…

Friday

As forecasted, the North-easterly wind is strong today, and we have big waves in Yverdon, which prevent any racing. The teams are making good use of their available time to check, repair and optimize their boats, or to try crazy stunts with some pontoon and tent canvas!
